"...they hate me..."
This is a "Did You Know?" for all the players that go out and try other fields in our area and beyond.
Nicole and I don't hate you if you stop playing for a while or go play at another field. We are not sure why this belief occurs but we have several theories which we have based on past experiences, rumors and human nature.
1. "Once you go there, you can't go home."
Some players are lead to believe by players and owners alike, that once you go play somewhere other than your own home field, you can't go back. Not true at Pentagon. We want you to play in other places. We want you to support All the Positive aspects of paintball. Why wouldn't we?
2. "It's cool to be the bad boy."
Players believe if they can say they have been Kicked out of a field, it makes them cool. There is only one Player in the history of Pentagon that we would prefer not to return to our field. If you want to tell people you are that person, go ahead. Odds are, you're not.
3. "Just stop by, talk is cheap"
We understand paintball doesn't take priority in the financial scheme of things. We do everything we can to keep the cost of paintball down but if you can't play cause money is tight we understand. Think about it, we own a paintball field..... we understand money gets tight (usually February's our time). No one gets rich running a paintball field. So, stop by, talk is cheap.
4. "Personalities are different, it's OK"
No two fields are run the same. The personality of an owner is often reflected in how a field is run. If you don't like how a field is run, you probably have a different personality than the owner. For example, if you're a safety oriented person, you'll like Pentagon. If you're very competitive, hate to lose and let people know it, you won't like Pentagon. If you like 1000 player days and lawless paintball, then you won't like Pentagon. If you enjoy good food and funny people, you'll like Pentagon. If you think Refs are players on the field to be hated, then you won't like Pentagon. If you like knowing you can come back and play no matter how long it's been or where you have played, then you'll like Pentagon.
That being said, we want you to play at as many fields as you can and we hope you find the best fit for you. If it's with Pentagon, Great! If it's not, that doesn't mean we hate you. It means we have different personalities. We're different, that's it, so what. Don't be a drama queen about it. Don't put down Pentagon because you throw your gun and shoot refs for recreation. At the same time, don't be mad when you get kicked out for not playing by Pentagon's rules. We carry insurance, we collect sales tax and we have rules, that's what responsible fields do.
I believe there is good in everyone, everyone can be forgiven and people just have bad days.
Blame this forgivingly positive attitude on my mother. She can always find something positive in anybody no matter what they did. Hummm.... amazing woman.

Did you know ramblings...
Did you know we'll survive 2010's great recession. Did you know that we have free tech nights, bring your gun in and we'll go through the entire gun with you for FREE? $5 over cost does not = $40. Did you know We don't charge for Spectators? 100 rounds included is just a tease. Did you know you can play ALL our fields, ALL day Long as Often as you want. $300 is not a good deal for a jersey. If they don't advertise the paint price at an event, it's $100 a case. Most people get paid to be on a team, not vice-versa. Did you know we are the only field and pro shop in the tri-state (maybe beyond) that is open year round, has 2 Angel techs (not to mention 14 other certifications), a pro shop with over 2000 Sq. ft. of paintball stuff (it's filled to the brim, not just a scattered smattering of product in a vast universe of empty space), Free Field Play every week, prices that beat internet pricing every day and most importantly, we have a staff that does it all without the "Attitude" all in one location? The harder I work, the luckier I get. $79.00 a case if you buy 12 is NOT a good deal. Did you know we actually plow off our fields when there's more that 10" of snow on the ground? Did you know that I can't spell? We don't wheel and deal because we already have low prices to begin with. Did you know that my wife and I have worked for over 10 years on building Pentagon Paintball what it is today. Did you know that Pentagon Paintball prints over 25,000 receipts a year? Did you know that at no time will you be playing on any Pentagon field without a ref in sight? Did you know I have AADD (at least according to my wife) and don't use it as an excuse ? Did you know that only 3% of our playing population is female? Did you know that we have over a 100 combined feet of towers on our fields? Did you know it takes 2 hours to snow plow each field? You know you are a leader when your competition watches you everyday. Did you know that it's take over 350 hours a year to mow all the playing fields and grounds at Pentagon? Did you know that we see over a 100 Players on a regular basis during Free Open Play Sundays in the summer? That's way better than 100's because you actually get to play. Did you know there are still fields that get away with charging $100.00 a case, and people pay it! Did you know that 63% of our customers are from out of town and when asked why they travel so far, the majority of their responses are "there's nothing in our area that compares to Pentagon prices and/or selection"? ..... more to come.........
